Camping committee report
Hi all, I wanted to get back to you and let you know some of the great things I learned from my meeting with the other camping committee members.
1. The deposit needed if your scout is signing up for high adventure camp in the Longhorn council is going up for 2012 to $100.00.
2. Camp Tahuaya is adding an additional week of summer camp as it was very popular in 2011.
3. Interviews for summer camp staff will start the weekend after Thanksgiving. Get the word out,
4. We need volunteer Commissioners. You can volunteer for just a week or all summer. Contact Jeff Peters at the longhorn council for information.
5. There are a large number of upgrades going on at all the camps prior to next years summer camps. Latrines, Showers, Tents, and signage are just a few.
6. The YMCA building on Basswood is expected to open sometime this winter. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Well that's it for the council centric items. For our district we are looking at the following items.
1. Nomination forms going out to the district for the TB district Camporee honoree nomination.
2. I will be getting an email out to the district ScoutMasters to see what their plans are for summer camp this year and let them know about the incentives for going to in council camps.
3. We will be setting up meetings soon to plan for the upcoming April 2012 camporee as well as the Longhorn council camporee in 2012. Think Boy run on the TB district events.
